Outreach
In 2002 DIAC started a series of outreach Drop-in sessions in the outskirts of York. The purpose of these is to reach a wider clientele who may not have heard of our work or are unable to access our service in central York.
This year another series of outreach sessions was held during June and July in villages surrounding York. The areas covered were Copmanthorpe, Haxby, Wheldrake, Dunnington, Skelton, Stockton- on- Forest and New Earswick.
These sessions resulted in a total of 52 individuals approaching the DIAC advice team for information on a number of topics, a breakdown of which is shown below:
18 General Advice & Information 14 Benefits 14 Mobility & Transport 13 Holidays & Leisure 3 Health Issues 2 Equipment/Adaptations 2 Housing/Adaptations 2 Access 2 Practical Help at Home 1 Personal Care at Home 1 Networking ______________ 72 Total
Due to the success of these Outreach events we will be planning more sessions in the future. Please turn to next page for 2004 venues.
