Joint Equipment Store Update
The Joint Equipment Service has changed its name to the Community Equipment Loan Service and has moved to Unit 3-4 Geralds Court, Phoenix Business Park, Hazel Court, James Street, York, YO10 3DQ. The new building has been refurbished to create a more user-friendly environment for issuing and collecting equipment.
Outreach Days 2004
Following the successful outreach to the rural areas of York, DIAC will be holding a series of outreach days in April and May in areas of social need in the inner York area. Please refer to Outreach pages for further details.
Disabiltiy Discrimination Act Rights
New laws will be introduced by Government to strengthen employment rights for disabled people.
The new rights to be introduced in October 2004 will provide protection under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) for disabled people in firms with under 15 employees. They will also extend DDA protection to police officers, fire-fighters and prison officers.
Access Consultancy
DIAC has a new member who is offering an access consultancy service. Martyn Weller has successfully worked on the access audit of the new Nuffield Hospital in York and expects to become busier in 2004 as the new access regulations come into force in October of this year.
Awards For All
DIAC is pleased to report that we have received a grant of Ł4,000 from Awards For All. This funding is to pay for the costs of outreach work in areas of social need in York. We are very grateful to those who offer financial support and a full list of donors can be found under Funding.
